1. Who we are
LectureSnap is operated by Fernando Javier Calvo Meza ("we", "us", "our"), the seller of the service and the data controller responsible for the personal data described in this notice. You can reach us at hello@lecturesnap.app.
2. Information we collect
We collect: (a) account data — email address, display name, login credentials; (b) user content — notes, files, and study sets you upload or generate; (c) support communicationsyou send us; (d) usage and device data — log data, IP address, browser type, and basic telemetry; and (e) payment-related data — handled directly by Paddle (see section 5). Guest data stays in your browser's local storage and is not sent to our servers.
3. How we use your data and legal basis
- Provide the service (account creation, generating summaries, flashcards, quizzes) — legal basis: performance of a contract.
- Security, fraud prevention, and abuse detection — legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Product improvement and analytics — legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Customer support — legal basis: performance of a contract / legitimate interests.
- Service and transactional emails — legal basis: performance of a contract.
- Legal and tax compliance — legal basis: legal obligation.
We do not sell your data and we do not use your study material to train public AI models.
4. AI processing
Content you upload is sent to our AI provider solely to generate your study set. Providers may temporarily process the content to deliver the response but do not retain it for model training.
5. How we share data
We share personal data with the following categories of recipients:
- Service providers / subprocessors — hosting, database, AI inference, analytics, and support tooling.
- Paddle.com (Merchant of Record) — Paddle acts as our reseller and handles all payments, subscription billing, tax compliance, invoicing, refunds, and related customer service. When you purchase a paid plan, the personal and payment data you provide at checkout is collected and processed by Paddle under its own privacy notice.
- Professional advisers — legal, accounting, where reasonably required.
- Authorities — where required by law.
5a. Advertising and cookies
LectureSnap shows ads to free-plan users through Google AdSense. Paid (Pro) users do not see ads.
- Google and its third-party vendors use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other websites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
- For users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, we (and Google) rely on consent for ad personalisation and certain measurement cookies. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time from the cookie settings link in the site footer.
We also use strictly necessary cookies for authentication and session management, and basic analytics cookies to understand product usage. See Google's How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services for details on data Google receives.
6. Data retention
- Account data: retained for the life of your account and deleted within 30 days of account closure.
- User content (study sets, files): retained until you delete it, or within 30 days of account closure.
- Support communications: retained for up to 24 months.
- Logs and usage data: retained for up to 12 months.
- Billing and tax records (held by Paddle and us): retained for up to 10 years to meet legal obligations.
When data is no longer needed for the purposes above, it is deleted or anonymised.
7. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures including encryption in transit, encrypted storage, and row-level access controls so only you can read your own study sets. No system is 100% secure.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can delete any study set from the Library or request full account deletion by emailing us. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
